Hello! I’m Harry Goodale, and I’m a young woodturner with a big passion for creating unique pieces from beautiful woods.

I first discovered woodturning at school when I was 9, thanks to Richard Maynard, my fantastic DT teacher: I had a go on the lathe and I was hooked! I am also developing my technique under the tuition of woodturner Neil Owen in his Berkshire workshop.

I first discovered woodturning when I was just 9 years old at school. My fantastic DT teacher, Richard Maynard, introduced me to the lathe, and from the moment I tried it, I was completely hooked. Since then, I’ve continued developing my skills with the guidance of woodturner Neil Owen in his Berkshire workshop, where I’ve learned new techniques and gained confidence in my craft.

At home, I now have my very own lathe, and it’s where I spend most of my free time. I love experimenting with unusual and interesting woods, turning them into all sorts of creations—from bowls and bottle openers to whatever new idea sparks my imagination.

What excites me most about woodturning is that every piece of wood has its own story. No two are ever the same. As I shape each piece, I never know exactly what patterns, colors, or textures will be revealed, and that surprise is part of what makes the craft so magical for me.

Through Gooderswood.com, I’m sharing my journey as a young woodturner. I’m learning more every day, and I take great pride in each piece I make. My hope is that you enjoy looking at my work as much as I enjoy creating it.

Thank you for visiting my site and supporting my work—it truly means a lot as I continue to grow and improve in this amazing craft.
